The Old Manse Inn in Brewster, Massachusetts, embodies quintessential Cape Cod charm and hospitality. The Inn enjoys an ideal location on over two park-like acres within walking distance of Brewster’s restaurants, shops, and museums, and within easy driving distance of the Cape’s countless activities and attractions. Brewster is known as the “Sea Captain’s Town” and although the circa 1801 Old Manse Inn began its life as a two-story home on 12 acres of farmland, a purchase by the Nickerson-Knowles family of sea captains led to the third-floor addition of a French-style mansard roof that now defines the character of the Inn’s exterior.

Several iterations of ownership and quality additions, renovations and improvements have highlighted the historic nature of the physical plant while adding features and amenities to continually improve the guest experience. The Inn offers 12 unique accommodations, with 9 guestrooms in the historic Main House, two spacious rooms in the renovated barn, and the capacious Lewis Bay Light Suite which offers a private entrance, a sprawling bathroom with separate shower and Jacuzzi, and a private deck overlooking the back lawn. The guestroom range in size and style but all have been designed and updated with a focus on comfort, cleanliness, and to emphasize structural historical features. There are six kings, five queens, and one full size room. All guestrooms take full advantage of the available space including the Inn’s luxury “Lewis Bay” suite which can sleep four with a king plus a queen pull-out for a family or group of friends.

While the guestrooms at Old Manse Inn are exceptional, the number of common areas, the flow between these spaces, and the opportunities for guests to come together or spend time in solitude is an exception to the experience offered by some of the highest performing properties in our market. The grand scale of the experience is clear upon arrival, with the Inn’s 1.24 acres of landscaped grounds and perennial plantings, all under the watchful eye of centuries old chestnut and maple trees.

Guests pass the barn and entrance courtyard on their way to check-in. The foyer offers views of both the Grand Parlor with its “grand baby” piano and fireplace and the Knowles living room which includes a library and reception bars (the site of morning coffee/tea service and the Inn’s afternoon wine and cheese reception). Breakfast is served in the Old Chapel Dining Room or under the shade of chestnut trees on the Hilltop porch and patio which offers town views and is a favored location for breakfast service in the summer season. As the name implies, the formal dining room was once a part of the First Lutheran Church of Cape Cod and features 14 original six over six double hung windows that draw in magnificent light during breakfast service and throughout the day.

About the Owner's Quarters

The owner’s quarters and separate staff quarters are far superior to most housing available to incoming owner/operators or managers.
This space features an open concept living, dining and kitchen area with vaulted ceilings and natural light. The common area is extended outside via a private deck that overlooks the Inn’s mature trees and back lawn. A spacious bedroom and bath complete the package for onsite owners or managers or offers potential for future income generation.
